A local bike shop we have worked with on some past projects brought this project to me knowing we are always happy to take on challenging and unique projects. The seat clamp bolt had seized up and this little bracket was cracked, basically making this beautiful carbon fiber race frame a nice wall hanging. Apparently BMC had changed over to a new system and this part is no longer available, until now! After a short discussion on the best way to save the frame we decided to start fresh and machine the part out of aluminum. We first had to recreate a 3D computer model of the part then we were able to come up with the tool paths for the CNC mill. After we finished the machining we put a slight polish on it to match the seat rails.
